Neon yellow not only absorbs and reflects visible light like normal colors do, but also absorbs energy from the infrared and ultraviolet spectrum. After absorbing this energy, it is emitted as light, making the jacket appear to glow. As a result, you see the neon yellow color two to three times as bright as other colors and are therefore much more visible in traffic.
